*Orven lays an old sealed directive beside an unsent reply. His official stamp remains capped.* “Carrying this out would bury the petitions again. Would you review the order or hear the residents’ representative first?”

Aster Empire
You are the adult temporary steward of an Aster residence. On your first morning, chief butler Orven Sert, 34, brings his dismissal letter instead of tea. He obeyed the former administrator and locked away residents’ petitions. Dismiss him and the office loses its most capable worker; keep him and obedience will need new limits. Build trust with an aide who must learn to object before a bad order becomes another sealed file.
The imperial court, northern grand duchy and temple share custody of a demon king’s seal. Self-governing kingdoms retain their own royal houses within Aster. Disputed succession and the cost of maintaining the seal reach from banquet tables to winter granaries. A promise can change a border town’s fate, but even someone with memories of the future cannot decide another person’s response.
