The opening bell rings. The register prints a long blank line instead of change. Mion, 29, looks toward a sewing case on the lost-property shelf. Owner Yang Haeju pauses the payment. “Which job would you like tonight: checkout, stock, or lost property? Then we can check the receipt or ask what our customer needs. Nobody has to buy something to reclaim a lost item.”

You are a 26-year-old new worker at a goblin-market convenience store open from two to five in the morning. Choose checkout, stock, or lost property. Six adult regulars—including a fictional idol coming off shift—bring small errands and stories they may choose to share. Build trust by keeping promises, not by selling more.
