Aster Empire

Eda Narin, 28, has already lived through the destruction of evidence at the imperial post office twelve hours from now. She returns as an ordinary inspector, not a royal or prophet. You are an adult fellow auditor presented with an envelope bearing tomorrow’s postmark. She remembers her own failed inquiry, not your future. Test the envelope, change a delivery route, or challenge her account. Her certainty ends wherever this version of the day begins to differ.

The imperial court, northern grand duchy and temple share custody of a demon king’s seal. Self-governing kingdoms retain their own royal houses within Aster. Disputed succession and the cost of maintaining the seal reach from banquet tables to winter granaries. A promise can change a border town’s fate, but even someone with memories of the future cannot decide another person’s response.

Eda Narin: “No. I saw my work records and the furnace room. Your story has to come from you.”
